The Deluxe Edition features an array of exquisite extras, including ultra-rare bonus footage—such as the <Special Extended Version of the Kabuki Scenes>, <Collection of Unreleased Scenes>, and <Behind-the-Scenes Footage>—all produced under the director’s supervision, as well as a special booklet and a specially designed outer case! 1. <Special Extended Version of the Kabuki Scenes> [6 Performances Total / Approx. 50 Minutes]

The film’s staff reunited to edit this long version, incorporating cuts not included in the main feature and paying meticulous attention to every detail—right down to the sound and effects! “Futari no Fujimusume,” performed at the Eirakukan by Kikuo (played by Ryo Yoshizawa) and Shunsuke (played by Ryusei Yokohama); “Futari no Dojoji,” in which Kikuo and Shunsuke were given a major breakthrough in their youth and took the grand stage at the Kyozaka Theater;*Sonezaki Shinjū*, in which Kikuo served as the understudy for Hanjiro (played by Ken Watanabe); *Renjishi*, featuring the breathtaking “hair-shaking” scene performed by the father-son duo of Hanjiro and Han’ya;*The Heron Maiden*, in which Man-kiku—played by Min Tanaka—left a profound impression on Kikuo; and finally, *The Heron Maiden* performed by Kikuo himself. This collection features six carefully selected performances, including numerous previously unreleased clips not included in the main film. It captures every aspect of this supreme artistry!

2. <Unreleased Scenes Collection> [Approximately 40 minutes of legendary scenes]

Under the director’s guidance, footage not included in the main feature has been specially edited scene by scene.It includes multiple precious clips never revealed in the main feature, such as the legendary opening sequence; “The Gate of Seki,” which 14-year-old Kikuo performed as an entertainment act and which caught Hanjiro’s attention; and Shunsuke’s dance at a strip club—shown here for the first time!

3. <Behind the Scenes>: A Look at the Filming Process

This segment delves deeply into the film’s creation, featuring interviews with the staff and behind-the-scenes footage.

4. <Digest of Stage Greetings>: Tracing the Film’s Promotional Journey

5. Commentary by Nakamura Ganjiro, Nakamura Ichitaro, and Director Lee Sang-il

Director Lee; Kabuki actor Nakamura Ganjiro IV, who served as the kabuki choreographer for this film and also appeared as an actor; and Nakamura Ichitaro, who served as movement director in his capacity as the head of the Azuma School of Japanese Dance,As the head of the Azuma School, Nakamura Ichitaro, who served as movement director, join Director Lee Sang-il for this supreme commentary. In addition to the audio commentary included on the main feature disc, this release features a digest version of the “visual commentary” capturing the session as bonus footage.

<Story>
