時を待つ人造人間の光景が、巨大なライフサイズバストに数多くの映画やゲームで手腕を振るう、メカニックコンセプトアーティスト「ジョシュ・ニジー」。
彼がキャラクターの新たな一面を引き出す “Concept By Josh Nizzi”のラインナップに、エヴァンゲリオン初号機のライフサイズバストが登場。
先にリリースした「第4の使徒」と同じく、そのデザインコンセプトを受け継いだ、スピンオフともいえる作品です。
「動感」と「起きた出来事」をテーマにした前作に対し、本作で表現したのは「静寂」と「起きる出来事」。
拘束具に固定され発進の時を待つ姿を、人間の上半身を思わせる全高86cmの巨大サイズで、緻密かつダイナミックに作り上げました。
巨大な初号機の存在感と取り囲む人々の物語を、丹念な造形・彩色で具現化しています。
パーツごとに光沢が異なる多層構造の装甲、開閉を再現できる肩パイロン、生々しいぬめりも施した口腔内。
前作からスケールアップしたことで、初号機は各部にいっそう濃密な情報量を宿しました。
また拘束具とデッキは、初号機以上に使い込まれた風合い。
上下2層に分かれて作業するスタッフたちも、それぞれのポーズにドラマを感じる仕上がりです。
腰元で波打つL.C.Lは、物言わず世界観を伝えています。
そして静寂に佇む初号機の息遣いを示すのが、内蔵LEDの演出効果です。
黄色く灯る両目、青白く輝く肩部。
L.C.Lをフィルターにした赤い光なども、見る者の想像をかき立てます。
先鋭的なデザインで生まれた巨大な胸像。
ヒトと人造人間が織りなす新しい神話の光景を、コレクションルームへ贈ります。
