For this project, illustrator iXima has depicted Hatsune Miku in a way that seems to complement Katsushika Hokusai’s works, creating a special collaboration that fuses Hokusai’s long history and passion for art with Hatsune Miku’s innovative spirit, which constantly brings something new to the world.

drawing character illustrations, the presence of line art and the way objects and space are rendered on a flat surface are the elements I’m most conscious of, and I feel that ukiyo-e is both the root of these elements and a perfect embodiment of them. .” Hokusai’s paintings feature iconic elements—such as the waves in *The Great Wave off Kanagawa* or the cherry blossoms in *Fuji at Gotenyama on the Tōkaidō*—that make each piece instantly recognizable just by those elements alone.These elements pair exceptionally well with “Hatsune Miku,” who can fuse with various things and transform into countless forms, and I had a tremendous amount of fun creating this piece. I would be delighted if this artwork serves as an opportunity for viewers to explore the worlds of both Hokusai and Miku.
