Prototype Design: Taro Murai From the
1975 film *The Counterattack of Mechagodzilla*, Mechagodzilla joins the ARTPLA lineup.
The prototype was designed by sculptor Taro Murai.
Inspired by Mechagodzilla’s attack on the city of Yokosuka in the film, this figure brings to life the “power,” “destruction,” and “ferocity” etched in viewers’ memories through completely new sculpting.
The design incorporates motifs such as sumo wrestlers, Kabuki, and Hannya masks as the essence of its aesthetic. The design elevates the impression of Mechagodzilla from the film into a figure with even greater power and presence.
Additionally, the set includes a diorama base featuring destroyed buildings and rubble, showcasing Mechagodzilla as it ravages the city and highlighting its immense size.By swapping out parts, the
head can be configured to reveal its internal electronic brain. The mouth, neck, wrists, and waist feature articulation, and the Cross Attack Beam hatch can be attached in either an open or closed position.
Enjoy the unique sculpting and assembly experience that only ARTPLA can offer as you build Mechagodzilla—a robot monster whose entire body is a weapon—with your own hands.
